Final Communiqué of the General Assembly Meeting of the Political Coalition “Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran”
To the freedom-seeking, justice-oriented, and progressive political parties, organizations, institutions, and activists,
The periodic General Assembly meeting of the coalition “Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran” for the year 1404 (2025), with the in-person and virtual participation of the overwhelming majority of the delegations of member parties and organizations, was successfully held on 27–28 September in the city of Paris, France.
The meeting began with one minute of silence in memory of all those who lost their lives on the path to freedom and equality. Next, the advancement of the meeting’s agenda—which had been provided beforehand to all participating delegations by the “Coordinating Committee of the Council of Representatives”—was entrusted to the elected presidium.
The agenda was as follows:
First: Determining how to manage and resolve occasional differences of opinion in political positions—which, given the breadth of the coalition and the number of its member forces, is entirely natural—in the most democratic manner possible and within the framework of the coalition’s Fifteen-Point Memorandum of Understanding.
Second: Reforming the current executive structure in order to make the coalition’s institutions more effective, to establish suitable internal mechanisms, and to adopt the necessary measures for their expansion.
Third: Drafting a work plan for the coming year that aligns with the rapidly evolving current situation.
The General Assembly of “Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran”, in a constructive, cooperative, and democratic atmosphere, examined, discussed, and exchanged views on all the above-mentioned items and presented practical solutions, reaching clear and tangible outcomes.
This meeting was held at a time when Iranian society, in a visible and unmistakable way, after 46 years of destructive and criminal rule, marked by darkness and brutality, corruption and wrongdoing, murder and execution, torture and repression, seeks to dismantle the Islamic Republic and to establish a free and democratic system in order to build a prosperous Iran.
Now, with the return of United Nations sanctions, and following the transformative, revolutionary movement sparked by Jina Mahsa Amini (the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement), as well as the severe weakening of the regime’s war machinery in the region, the Islamic Republic finds itself in its weakest state in recent years. However, due to the absence of a broad, popular political alternative and despite substantial efforts by various strands of Iran’s republican, justice-seeking, and progressive opposition, the regime has unfortunately remained in power.
We, the constituent forces of the political coalition “Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran”, reaffirming the principles of our Fifteen-Point Memorandum of Understanding and drawing a firm boundary against any attempt to impose an alternative from the outside, believe in the fundamental principle of the right to self-determination. We consider the overthrow of the ruling regime to be the exclusive right of the people of Iran. To achieve this goal, we seek cooperation and solidarity with all freedom-seeking forces who strive for a democratic Iran in which the rights of all social strata and classes, gender and sexual minorities, religious minorities, and the diverse nationalities of Iran are fully guaranteed.
